My question is not related to a problem specifically, but related to a DNS/Site Redundancy setup scenario that I would like opinions on whether it will work.
Here is what I want to accomplish:
Domain: xyz.com
Two Geographically seperate sites (Sitea and Siteb), both with different ip addresses externally (74.0.0.0 and 75.0.0.0) and on internal network (10.0.0.0 and 10.11.0.0)
Sites are connected togeather using site to site vpn.
Hosting website, email, vpn, dns, etc using ISA server at each site for translating one external ip address to multiple internal ip addresses.
Utilizing failover software sucha as WansyncHA or Double Take, etc to sync data internally over vpn link.
Two external facing DNS servers, one for each site, both primary servers so that records for external facing ISA server ip address can be different at each site. DNS servers registered at internic as Primary and Secondary.
In the event of Sitea going down (Primary site), Siteb will pick up and information will flow to internal servers at Siteb (Wansync does internal edit of DNS to point Master server dns entry to that of the replica server)
Can this setup work? Is this DNS setup not easily done or not even done at all? Any suggestions as to how to do this type of redundant site failover?
Thank You.
