ISA Server and Firewall Client questions.

Asked by impire in MS Internet Security & Accel, SBS Small Business Server

Tags: isa, client, firewall, server

Server is a Small Business 2003 R2 Premium w/ ISA 2004

1) How do I verify which service pack does the current ISA is running on?  I don't remember whether or not I installed service pack 2 for ISA 2004 or not and need to check.

2) When I download ISA 2004 SP2, I also see the download for the Firewall client.  Does this mean after I install SP2, I should try to use this new Firewall Client as well or should I just stick to the original FWC that came with SBS/ISA 2004 default install?

3) Do I need to install the firewall clients on other Windows 2003 server in the active directory or is the firewall client only for the workstations running on XP Pro.

4) In the mspclnt directory, there are 4 install files (please see below).  Then in the mspclnt\Program Files\Microsoft Firewall Client 2004, there are 3 more exe install files (FwcAgent.exe, FwcCreds.exe, FwcMgmt.exe).  This is really confusing.  Which one should I use?

instmsia.exe
instmsiw.exe
MS_FWC.msi
setup.exe
