The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

There is a problem with this website's security certificate Error Message
Tags: Microsoft, ISA, 2006, Publishing IIS HTTPS website
I have set up a HTTPS website using IIS 6.0
Installed the personal and intermediate certificate. Intermediate into local computer.

Published the website using ISA 2006.
Exported the certificate from IIS into ISA web listener.
Installed the the intermediate certificate on the ISA server.

The website works fine but I get the "There is a problem with this website's security certificate" message in IE.
I am using ipsCA so their root certificate is already in IE as IPSERVIDORES.

Why am I still get this error message?

check if you have certificate valid for todays date (i.e. its validity period) and you are using it exactly on the same domain for which it was generated. like you can not use it for a subdomain if it was generated for a domain name without subdomains.
These all are assumptions based upon your query. exact solution could be formed if you can provide exact problem identified by IE. (or if this website is accesseble from Internet and there are no issues involved in publishing the url, please provide the url here, for testing)

Yes the certificate is valid for today 24 March 2008

The certificate was generated for staff.domain.com.  In the web browser I am typing https://staff.domain.com.

The website is accessible from the internet and there are no issues with actually publishing the site.  I can view the site OK, I just get that error message and no gold lock in IE.

When I go into IIS manager and click the View Certificate button the full certification chain seems fine.
It shows me IPS SERVIDORES at the top, underneath that I have IipsCA CLASEA1 Certification Authority and underneath that I have staff.domain.com

When I browse the site locally I don't get the " There is a problem with this website's security certificate" error message.  I just get a box saying "This Site Contains Both Secure and Non Sercure Items.  Do you want to display non-secure items"

When accessing the site from the internet I get both the above messages.

Just another update.  When I access the site locally and answer "No" to "This Site Contains Both Secure and Non Sercure Items.  Do you want to display non-secure items?"  I get the gold lock.and it says the certificate is OK.

If I do the same from internet I get the red bar at the top of IE. If I click on "certificates" and "view certificates" the certification path does no show IPS SERVIDORES  or ipsCA CLASEA1.  Only show staff.domain.com.

I rebooted the ISA server an now when I access the website from the internet the gold lock comes up and when I click on it the certificate is looks OK, but now the website won't load.  I get the error'

"Error Code: 500 Internal Server Error. The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted. (-2146893019)

Do I need to install the intermediate certificate on both the web server and the ISA server?

03.24.2008 at 05:38AM PDT, ID: 21193121
Sorry for all the messages.  Things just keep changing.  Anyway I installed the Root certificate on the ISA server, even though ipsCA said not to on Microsoft servers.  The page now loads fine but I still get the message;

"This Site Contains Both Secure and Non Sercure Items.  Do you want to display non-secure items?"

Why does this message come up and how to get rid of it?

03.24.2008 at 06:17AM PDT, ID: 21193309
The certificate you are using does not belong to you as it is issued to www.opendns.com and you are using the certificate on staff.domain.com. Look in the certificate details button on the warning window and it will tell you all the details about that certificate

Well everything is OK now.  SSL works fine with the website.  Installed the reply, intermediate and root certificate on ISA and it's happy now.  Restarting the ISA server after you install the intermediate certificate is actually very important.

The "This Site Contains Both Secure and Non Sercure Items.  Do you want to display non-secure items?"  message is gone as well.  Initially when I created the website, I created it as a HTTP site and then changed it to a HTTPS site.  So I deleted the web application and created a new site as HTTPS from the outset and the message is gone.
