hardware device which does same function as ISA server

Hi

we want to find a hardware device which does the same functionality as the Microsoft ISA server

we are just concern that a hardware device will be easy to maintain that ISA server

we are planning to use ISA server as

1) gateway for our lan

2) network firewall

3) network anit virus

4) see which url's are going to

etc

Suppose the closest is something like the Cisco ASA, Securecomputing's Sidewinder etc or you can take the best option; forget your worries and use ISA 2004 +SP2 + rollup patches.

If you were to go with the Cisco ASA option, be sure and get the ASA 5510 with the CSC SSM.  This is the Content Security and Control Security Services Module.  This would give you the network level antivirus capability that would inspect traffic for viruses that traverses the firewall.  You would also be able to perform content filtering and be able to see URL's visited with the appropriate licensing option for the CSC SSM.  See the following URL:

As much as it pains me to plug this product - take a look at the Fortinet/fortigate products. You should be able to find one to suit your budget.

How many users/comptuers do you have at your site?  

I am not a fan of MS, but is there any reason you don't want to use ISA?

get an old i386 from your trash corner, add a second NIC, install linux (kernel 2.4. should be enough), configure iptables, add postfix (or qmail or exim or sendmail if you prefer), add something like spam assassin, add squid, and ready you go. Costs =< $0.

You can purchase a number of turnkey appliances based on ISA server.  Can't get much closer to ISA server than that!
