The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

ISA Server external IP problem

I need some help with Microsoft ISA Server 2004.  I have an ISA 2004 box running as strictly a firewall to protect an internal network.  We're using server publishing rules to publish two mail servers (I'll call them MailA and MailB) and a dozen or so other rules to publish various other machines (couple web servers, SQL, etc.).

The external NIC on the ISA server has 20 IP's assigned, the two publishing rules for MailA and MailB are listening on different IP addresses for ports 25 & 110 to serve SMTP and POP3 requests.

The mail servers both work fine, the problem is outgoing connections.  When MailA and MailB connect to the outside world, they both appear to come from the same IP address, which is the default external address for the ISA server, not the IP address that is configured in the publishing rule.  In fact, anything behind the firewall always "appears" to the outside world as the ISA server's default external IP, regardless what any publishing rules might say.

This is causing problems with our mail servers because one of them gets blacklisted, and as a result the rest of our mail servers are blacklisted because they all appear to come from the same IP.  Is there a way to configure ISA server to send outbound traffic with different IP's from the external network?
