Got it. How about a specialized utility that goes and audits cache, history, cookies, etc and tries to find out what the PC was used for?
Thx

Browse All TopicsI've been told by a client that he wants to audit a user's workstation for malicious websites visited, etc. He did it himself but found everything deleted (history, cache, cookies, etc) Now is there any software which I can install which gets me all information to audit the PC even if the files have been erased? I know that when files are erased on a Windows XP, the files aren't actually removed but only links to them are. Hence, any unerase utility I should use or if there's a good boot CD I can boot the machine off and it'll try to recover this stuff and help me audit it?
Thank you

You'll have to hope that the space that was used by those files hasn't been used by other files meanwhile. To at least make sure not any more files are overwritten. remove the disk from that PC and connect it as a 2nd drive to another windows Box. Now scan it with getdataback, it'll show what files are recoverable, and after registering the utility you'll be able to copy those files off.
