Question

ISA not allowing certain website access

Asked by: ryankahan

Hi Guys,

I have ISA2006 on a Win2k3 SRD server thats is my 1st tir of net security.
My issue is that when I try open either:
  1. quickbooks.intuit.com : Will not open at all, it times out after a while
  2. americanexpress.com :  The site will open, but when trying to login, the site time's out also after a while.

If I connect directly to my DSL model (bypassing ISA) I can access both sites fine.

I appreciate your help (as always)!

Hannes.

Can you please post your access rule for the web access. Also what does the ISA logging show when you try to connect to the sites?

Regards
Steve

if it is happening for those two sites, it will be happening for others - you just don't know it yet.

Is your ISA server a proxy only box or a firewall/proxy?
Most issues of this kind are down to DNS in some shape or other - can you provide the output from an ipconfig /all please from the ISA Server?

Open the ISA gui - select monitoring - logging - click start query.
What do you see in the log when you try andf access these two sites?

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention that I am working from a Mac book Leopard 10.5.5 and Mac book 10.4.11 that is a client on the domain.
From a windows client that is a member of the domain seems to be fine.

Awaiting your feedback.

I have three questions :
. Is the other windows machine the same as ur subnet or no.
. You said the web pages time out. How do u know they time out ?
. Are other sites blokced too or no ? ( if everything in ur macbook is blocked then u have a configuration problem with ur client).

The answer to my questions will lead u to solve the problem.

I also recommend u read this article http://blogs.technet.com/isablog/archive/2008/11/24/error-10060-while-browsing-internet-through-isa-server-2006.aspx

Good Luck..
