I have a need to allow SSH traffic from an external server to come through the ISA server and to be delivered to an internal server.
The external server is using port AAAA, I have then create a NAt rule on out modem to translate this to port 1433 so that sql command can be rule.
My problem is - how to I make sure that the packet coming in on port AAAA is using SSH. I dont know how to check this on the ISA firewall. The ISA can check data on L7 cant it??

Hello there,
ISA 2006 doesn't have filter a way to decrypt and understand the SSH traffic.
If you create a rule if will be a simple server publishing rule to allow traffic from port AAAA to the internal server. This isn't very secure are you could only really filter on IP addresses allow to connect to the ISA using port AAAA. Any sort of traffic can flow through that port with out any way to monitor it unless you can build a filter using the ISA 2006 SDK, which is far from trivial.
Do you have any other options for remote management, such as a VPN or RDP?
