Thanks for the reply. I have done installs before so the install and deployment wont be an issue I just need to figure out how it will play with my setup, and what if any the performance hit may be.

Browse All TopicsHello,
This is my first post here.
My company has asked me to set up a new firewall and we are going with Threat Managment Gateway or ISA. I have worked with TMG in Essential Business Server and really liked it so that is my first choice.
My issue is that we have 5 external addresses and 4 Servers that are on the internet. At this point they each are dual nic one with an internal address and one with an external address.
My boss has asked me to set up a network diagram of this so I can display how it will work. My understanding from what I have read is that I will have to assign the external nic of my TMG server all 5 external IPs then route them accordingly. My concern with this if it is in fact true is the issue of bandwith. All connection are going through one nic and there are 4 connections.
If you need anymore information to help me out please let me know. I have done a few setups of ISA but they have all been small businesses with a single external IP address.

you are correct - the external IP addresses will all go on the ISA external nic. performance should not be an issue in the sense that it would be just as much a peformance issue if you used separate nics on the ISA.
One issue to be aware of though. the Ip address that is actually bound to the ISA external nic is the MAIN address. The other four addresses are actually just ARP entries. What this means is that OUTBOUND traffic will ALWAYS use the MAIN ip address.
for example, ISA will NAT out bound traffic using the MAIN ip address, also email leaving the site will also use the MAIN ip address. thee is no function to tell this traffic to use any of the other four addresses as part of the NAT function.
