I cannot start the fwsrv.exe service on ISA Serer 2006 firewall. I am seeing Service-Specific error codes 3321488523, -2146893802 qnd -2148073494; as well as 7001 and 7024. The Server Control Service starts and immediately shuts down as if it has no tasks to complete. All dependencies for the firewall seem to be Started. The IIS Cert has been reapplied and the server restarted several times. This Celestix "Whale" appliance has been down 4 days now and I am just stepping into a mess. Any suggestions as to how to approach this? It appears that IAG v3.7-SP2 Update-2 Build 37 was just applied (Just the Update 2 portion). Everything worked fine before this update according to users.

Thanks for your response Keith. I have resolved the problem. Another administrator had tried to install LDAP when active directory was already installed for authentication. The LDAP connection did not have a trust relationship with the domain, so it was not being allowed and the firewall service would not start. I removed the LDAP connector and and the firewall service started right up.

The 7024 and 7001 errors are reasonably generic error messages relating to the inability to start a particular service and a problem with the netbios service when it is not bound to a nic or device.
What e will need to ascertain is what has changed on the system (assuming this has been a working system previously) - windows updates? upgrades? hardware changes? New installations?
