WarCraft 3 freezes

When I play WarCraft 3 for about 20-45 minutes, my computer freezes.  I have an ASUS A7V333 mb with 256MB of ram, a Creative 3D Blaster Annihilator 2 Ultra video card (nVidia geForce2 Ultra), and 2 WD 40G HDDs.  I have downloaded updated drivers for the video card and the mb.  I have installed the patch for WC3 and windows 98 SE.  The temperature at startup is around 38-42C, and rises to 52C during game play.  I have used 3D Mark 2001 and did not repeat the freeze up with WC3.  However, I have had 1 freeze up while playing Anachronox.

Any suggestions as to what may be the problem?

Heap, When was the last time you acctually _spoke_ to your computer? ;)

Seriously, this might be due to CPU fan problems, eg the fan is dead. luckily, fans are fairly cheap. But then again, it doesn't have to be the fan at all.
You forgot to include the make of your CPU.  Doesn't help me but it may help other people.
I just took a look at a nice graph on Tom's Hardware guide showing CPU temperature with different coolers.
Link here to the cooler guide:
http://www17.tomshardware.com/cpu/20001211/cpu_cooler-01.html

The results show that 52C is not really that hot, I don't think the problem is you CPU temperature.  You may have a software problem and it may be time to back up and re-partition and re-format your HDD.

Try this link:

It is an extensive troubleshooter for anachronox.

You say WC3 isn't crashing anymore?  Did you do anything other than run 3D mark?  It is a system tester it doesn't fix problems.
That's about it, a little more info if you can please.

good luck
I have the same problem with WC3, I've tried reformatting, partitioning, different OS's, and ram,

so i'm listening :)
incompatible manufacturer of ram may cause your computer problem.check out www.asus.com for compatible ram for your motherboard.

Warcraft III seems to have major problems with the ASUS mainboards.  I know of at least 5-6 cases of wc3 issues that all revolve around the mainboard.
Do you run Windows 2000?

Turn all the video settings to lowest, apply the latest patches, lower you video card refresh rate to something smaller.  This will at worst allow you to get 2 hurs of gameplay before a crash.
hmmmm, seem as how warcraft 3 needs a minimum of 128 MB ram and Blizzard recomend at least 256 available for the game I think that you can attribute the problem to something called lack of free memory
let me explain, I run WC3 on aa 2.4GHz machine with 1024MB (1GB) of ram under XP and only have a 32MB graphic card, WC3 runs fine and I have never had any problems with it crashing.
