The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Automation Server can''t create object

Tags: create, server, automation, object
Dear Friends,
Whenever I am trying to run ActiveX
It gives error at fso = new ActivexObject(....)

Automation Server can't create object.
i got the browser message
An activeX contro in this page might be unsafe to interact
with other parts of page. do u want to allow this interaction?
it ask for 'yes' or n'no'
i press 'no' then it give me a javascript error
but  by changing settings on Internet Explorer , Tools, Internet options, Security, custom level and then  by enabling  or prompting "Initializing and Script Activex controls not marked as safe"  I was able to run the script. This means I lowered the security in browser.

This can be a security issue. So please anybody can help me to run the script with out changing the security setting in browser.

Thanks

It would help if you stated exactly what "script" you are trying to run.

Is this a script that is required to run on your system before you can gain access to a particular web page, or have you developed an application or online installer that, while you are testing it, creates the error message?

Have you simply tried:

Internet Options > Advanced > Disable "Script debugging"
Internet Options > Advanced > Disable "Display notification of every script error"

12.30.2003 at 07:25AM PST, ID: 10016498
I encountered the similar problem.
The JScript I used:
function getOutlookApp()
{
    var outlook;
    try
    {
        outlook = GetActiveOleObject( "Outlook.Application" );
    }
    catch( E )
    {
        outlook = new ActiveXObject( "Outlook.Application" );
    }
    return outlook;
}

function displayAppt( obj ){
    out = getOutlookApp();

      /* Create an Appointment Item */
      appt = out.CreateItem( olAppointmentItem );

      /* Transfer the data */
      appt.Subject = obj.Subject;
      appt.Location  = obj.Location;
      appt.Start = obj.Start;
      appt.End = obj.End;
      appt.ReminderMinutesBeforeStart = obj.ReminderMinutesBeforeStart;
      appt.Body = obj.Body;

      /* Display the data */
      appt.Display();
}

function appt( Subject, Location, Start, End, ReminderMinutesBeforeStart, Body ){
      this.Subject = Subject;
      this.Location  = Location;
      this.Start  = Start;
      this.End  = End;
      this.ReminderMinutesBeforeStart = ReminderMinutesBeforeStart;
      this.Body = Body;
}

My html is like this:

<html>
      <head>
      </head>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="/xp/displayOutlookItem.js" language="JScript">
</script>

</body>
</html>

Through debugger, I know the error message " Automation server can't create object" happens here.  Again when I enable IE's "Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe", everything works fine.

Is there anyway to work around this security control?  Or how can I use an ActiveXObject is marked "safe" through JScript?

TIA

Chris

You need to press "Yes" instead of "No".

Just a added note.  This script requires a lower setting to work without authorization.  Another way to let it work is to add it to the safe sites zone.  You can allow certain sites a lower security than others.  What browser are you using?

>> i press 'no' then it give me a javascript error

Then press "Yes".

I agree with davepusey on this one.

The question was :  >>> "...please anybody can help me to run the script..." <<<

Regardless of whether we agree or disagree that it may be unwise to allow scripts to run without knowing exactly what they are, davepusey certainly answered the question.
