The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

23 P of C in the H B; 13=UFS
Tags: p, c, 23, b, h
Someone sent me a set of 33 little "cryptics" to solve. They all look like this:

7 D in a W - answer is 7 Days in a Week

or

3 B M (S H T R)- answer is 3 blind mice (see how they run)

or

Anyway I've got all but 2 of them. They are driving me nuts and I'll happily award 25 points EACH for the correct answers. The remaining two are:

23 P of C in the H B

and

13=UFS

The following insights may or may not help.

I suspect the questions may have come from South Africa as there were questions about cricket, rugby, and "9 P in S A", which turned out to be "9 provinces in South Africa". A few of the questions also had a biblical leaning, which has led me to think that the "H B" (above) might be "Holy Bible".

Final note - these little puzzles are presented in an Excel spreadsheet. You key in your answer and the word "TRUE" or "FALSE" appears in an adjoining cell. I only mention this because it is possible that you might offer an answer that sounds reasonable but which is unacceptable to the spreadsheet.

Final final note. I guess another (dishonourable) way to the answers would be to find where it is hidden in the spreadsheet. I guess there must be a hidden formula for each question to enable it to come up with the "True" or "False", but I don't know enough about Excel to unhide the formulas.

Really final note. 13=UFS is not "unlucky for some" or "unused floor space".

found a reference on the web, it may apply to your problem.

Quote:

Yeah, U simply type : 13 is unlucky for some

I am sure if u remove "=" sign it should match

Unquote.

several other answers to the question were along these lines and some made comments such as 'I don't know why it works like that', so they may be referring to an electronic quiz like yours.

Accepted Solution

whee! found another one.

23 P of C in the H B = PAIRS of CHROMOSOMES in the HUMAN BODY

Thanks RobinD. Bingo on both counts.

It's fussy - it wouldn't accept "13=unlucky or some".

I wouldn't have got the other one in a million years.

Cheers

Mac,

RobinD answered them already, but the answers are relatively easy to find if you google on the complete question with quotation marks around them. Just an idea ;-)

Cheers,

23 P of C in the H B: 23 Pairs of Chromozomes in the Human Body

I got about 27 out of the 32, and then I needed to know the rest. The easiest way is to open the Excel document in Notepad. All the answers are there - but not to honest I might say.
