virus on computer I can't figure out
Hello,
I've got some kind of virus on my laptop that I can't figure out and what it does is the following:
-sucks up memory
-pop-ups like crazy
-replaces all the first 5 or so search results in google with the same ads like "lloking for %whatever% at 202search.com
Ive tried all the following things to get rid of this:
- adaware
- spybot
- csshredder
- norton internet security
- stopzilla
None of them did anything except for Norton found a program called pinger.exe that was trying to do something on startup
The pops-ups seem to come and go when I run the various programs but always come back. And so much memory is getting used for no apparent reason my machine is sometime almost unusable
this is driving me crazy, please help!! I would just wipe the machine but this is a second computer that's been infected with this and I dont want to have to go through that if I dont have to. Also, a thrid laptop in the family has also been infected with this same thing, so you can see why I don't want to keep doing this. The only common denominator is that my wife just recently has checked her email with gobot.com free service on all three machines, and now all three have received this virus...wich I would have figured that out earlier it's a pretty bug coincidence.
any help would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance

Thanks for all the comments, however I believe the machine got too messed up somewhere along the lines of trying to remove various things. All the replies are very helpful moving forward...not sure how to give points on this one so I'm just going to divide them up...
Thanks and good luck.
