Microsoft Office for Mac - Standard vs. Professional?

Asked by cw-admin in Apple Networking, Appletalk

Hi y'all,

I need to add a Mac computer to a windows sbs domain at the office but I have seen other posts that say how to do this. My question at the moment is the following: I'm trying to decide buying one the 3 versions of Microsoft Office for Mac : Standard, Professional or Student. Can you advise me on the difference in capabilities? What's needed in order to be able to purchase the student version? It's so much cheaper :-) From what I have researched so far, the only difference between the Standard and Professional versions is that the later includes Virtual PC for Mac Version 7 with Microsoft Windows XP Professional. And then read something about that giving it the capabilities for networking and stuff. So, if I want to add the Mac to the domain, do I need to buy the Professional edition? I mean, it's just software not the opereting system, right?Start Free Trial
