I have an OSX (v. 10.3.7) client that cannot connect to a share on a Windows 2003 Server (for Small Business Server). I have tried the domain controller security changes (because it is a domain controller) found elsewhere on this site:
-> Security Settings -> local policies -> security options:
Domain member: Digitally encrypt or sign secure channel data (always): have put in on "Not Defined" instead off "enabled"
Microsoft Network server: Digitally sign communications (always): have put in on "Not Defined" instead off "enabled"
Microsoft Network server: Digitally sign communications (if client agrees): have put in on "Not Defined" instead off "enabled"
Microsoft Network client: Digitally sign communications (always): have put in on "disabled" instead off "Not Defined"
Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\
CurrentCon
trolSet\Se
rvices\lan
manserver\
parameters
the key: "requiresecuritysignature"
have changed it from "1" to "0".
I added File and Print services for Mac and I have created a MAC share on the server and when I connect from Go> Connect to server > I get a "could not connect to the server because the name or password is not correct" error. I know they are correct as i can login to windows with them. I am using smb://ipaddress/sharename and I get an authentication prompt. I have tried every combination I can think of including fully qualified domain name, domain\user. I also tried smb://user:password@ipaddr
ess/sharen
ame. The user (and everybody) has full access in share permissions and user has full access in NTFS permissions. I even added the server to the dns list (the server is a domain controller running dns).
I just started this new business 1 month ago and this is my first big client (why did they have to have MACs too?)
My eternal gratitude is yours in advance (well, for at least 3 or 4 months) if you can help. :)
Thanks!
Peter
