The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Is my Airport Express dead?

Asked by L_Malchiodi in Apple Networking

Tags: ,

Yesterday afternoon, I started having problems with some web sites not loading. I went into Internet Connect, disconnected and reconnected, and haven't been able to get a connection since. It's definitely Airport-related, as I can connect just fine with a direct Ethernet connection.

I tried a hard reset, then a factory reset.

Here's where things stand now:

- The Airport Express is blinking orange.

- I tried going into the Airport Setup Assistant, and selecting Set Up a New Airport Base Station, it tells me it's found a new Airport Express connected to Apple Network 03818d. I click Continue, and it's unable to find the base station.

- In the Airport Admin Utility, the Airport Express doesn't appear in the list. I'd try using Other.. and putting in the IP address of the Airport Express, but don't know where to get it since the PB can't see the thing.

- I went into the Network Utility, and it does see an Apple Wireless Network Adapter. I assume that's the Airport card in the PB. It's Active and looks OK.

I'm really at a loss. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can go from here? The Airport Express has been working just fine for two years now....

I'm running a Powerbook G4, MacOS 10.4.7.

Thanks very much,
