Mac can't get IP address from Linksys router on PC-based network

Asked by slovisa in Apple Networking

Tags: ip, linksys, mac, address, get

I have been using a Mini Mac PowerPC G4 on my network for several weeks now, using the built-in ethernet adapter connected to a Linksys WRT54G. Suddenly I'm unable to get an IP address - I just get the self-assigned 169... address, so I'm unable to go online or see other machines. Renew DHCP Lease doesn't do anything.

I'm pretty good with PC networking, but know next to nothing about Macs. Is this enough info to start troubleshooting the problem? Any help would be much appreciated!Start Free Trial
