I have a Kyocera FS 1030D connected to a Thecus N5200PRO NAS and set up as an IP printer. The Windows computers on the network can print to it with no problems at the IP address given in the manual for the NAS. It says to set the printer's IP address to "
http://N5200PRO_IP_ADDRESS:631/printers/usbprinter", this DOES work for the Windows computers on the network, but when I enter the same address in the Mac OS (10.4.11 on Intel MacBook 2Ghz) printer setup, when I try to printe something, I get the error message: Unable to look up "http" - Unknown host.
Here's how I had set it up:
System Preferences - Print & Fax - "+" (add printer)
Selected IP Printer
Added IP address as above (
http://N5200PRO_IP_ADDRESS:631/printers/usbprinter)
Left "Queue" lank for default queue
Selected proper printer driver from "Print using..."
This added the printer, but it doesn't work.
On the NAS, SMB is turned on and as I said, the Windows machines can print everything is correctly set up on the NAS and the IP printer is ready to go, it is something I must be missing in hw to address the printer from MAC OS X.
