web application doesn't work with Hostname in URL but works with Localhost or IP Address

Hi Guys,

I am facing this strange problem with Virtual machines ( I tried it both on Virtual PC and VMware).

Problem : I have windows 2003 server standard edition setup on vmware. I am running an web based application (deployed on tomcat 5.0).

when I try to access the application with the url http://<hostname>:8080/login.jsp I get the login page but I am not able to login to the application but If i replace the <hostname> with localhost or External IP address it works fine.

Can anyone help me resolving the above mentioned problem.

Any help will be highly appreciated.
