The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

port forwarding in apache

Tags: apache, port, forwarding
I am running a Apache Server in port 80 on my static ip address which is hosted on net with a registered domain. There are some more servers running Jboss 8080 , weblogic 7001, IIS 80, Oracle Apps Server 8001 in my Lan.

As I am having single static IP and one registered domain name, i am doing a NATing using iptables to host my local servers outside the internet through my static ip machine.

ie., www.mydomain.com:80           ----------- my apache server 80 on my static ip internet machine
www.mydomain.com:8080       ----------- my jboss server 8080 running at one Lan PC
www.mydomain.com:7001       ----------- my weblogic server 7001 runnning at another lan pc

Now my problem is whenever internet users hit my machine on port 8080 or 7001 they are unable to reach my internal server as they are having firewall / proxy server blocking this ports at their end. So i wish to allow the user to come to my apache server at port 80 and route the hits to different machine running at 8001 or 7001.

ie., enter at apache80 and get internally routed to different machine running at different ports.

I hope it is possible but no idea how to go about it . Is virtual host - namebased/ip based/port based in apche server can help on this? or any other possibility available at apache configuration?
