Coldfusion vs PHP vs ASP

This question has probably been asking several times... please bear with me.

Ok, while traversing the Net, I came across some infor on PHP. Now I
never paid ASP any mind because I found some site that said CF was a
little further along in terms of performance. Recently, I've been interested
in perhaps learning SQL and something in what I was reading pointed
to PHP.

PHP is free!!!??? If so, wouldn't that be ideal for any size DB? Wouldn't
that be ideal for cost conscious individuals and businesses that wanted
to start out in database driven web sites? FREE!!! Wait, MySql is free too!!!
What am I missing here?

I've been trying to pitch to my company that they need to get off of using
some small shop's db and apps for work processing, and switch to Cold Fusion
and SQL (though I've never used it but they already have it in house). The
DB would need to hold tons of records and handle as many daily transactions.
They already have a MS/Unix Infrastructure. I recommended that the company
go opensource (Unix/Linux) to save on IT expenses, so wouldn't PHP make
the most sense?

Me personally, I fell in love with HTML years ago and so to with CF because
it's almost the same (tags). I use it in conjunction with an Access DB (only because
that's what I had) for my own little user-based web site.

So now tell me... CF, PHP, or ASP? Pros/cons...
