Browse All TopicsI just got a cisco 831 router and I am having difficulty getting my WAN port to accept an address from my cable company. (WAN connection is E1) I believe I've set the port up to accept ip by dhcp. According to what I found if the documentation the command should be: ip address dhcp client-id ethernet1. when I do a show int e1 it says internet address will be negotiated using dhcp, which I assume means that port is ready to receive an ip address. Nevertheless, internet doesn't work. The reason I think no address is being assign (or perhaps accepted) is because I get a temp ip address of 0.0.0.0 for interface e1 when I do a show dhcp lease command.
I am wondering if anyone knows what the problem is here? Am I missing something in my configuration, did I use the wrong command, or am I just missing something stupid that I'm overlooking? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.
