Yeah, I have had this happen to me. Usually it happens when your ISP will assign a static IP address to a new customer and that static IP falls in a DHCP range. Give them a call and see if this is the case.

I am on a broadband connection with comcast. Can someone please help with this. I am not running a network, I do not have a router, just a plain old ethernet adapter card. with zone labs free firewall running.

That error means that you or someone is trying to use the same IP address
If you pc is set for DHCP, this woouldn't or shouldn't happen
If you pc is set for a STATIC IP, this can happen if some who also uses your ISP
is trying to use that same STATIC IP address
Most cable isp's don't give out static ip's, they mostly use DHCP
do you have a static IP from your ISP ?
If so I would let them know what is happening
If not, then there isnt much you can do, as your trying to do something,
they dont want you to do
