yes,

1. you can connect the switch/hub you have to another switch/hub, just use
the xPort (some switches have a port that has crossed connections)
on one of the switches, if you don't have that kind of port, you will need a crossed cable.
and you can use any port on switches.

2. I'm not getting the point, if you have a router, just connect it to the switch, and all
system on the network will be able to access Internet.

If you buy a DSL router that can DHCP, and NAT,
then you just need to connect it to one of the switches, then
all machines will get IP address and default GW from router's DHCP.

Some routers already have hub capabilities (they have 2 or more ethernet connection integrated), if you buy such
a router, then you might have to use a crossed cable to connect the switches.

Thanks for ur response,
I am going to buy PLANET 4 RJ 45 Connectro with WAN interface cord. My doubt is I have two 8 port switches, either I have to connect the router to two of them or single with direct cable/crosse wired cable.

hope fully cross wired to any of the switch, just confirm Mr Tack.

the best would be to keep the "cascading" connection as low as possible.

both your solutions will work, the best would be the first one
(connect both switches to the router).

Dear,

I could think of it, u know, but problem is if I connect two switches to the router the speed of internet will be half, I mean to say will be shared. is it okay. if I connect the two switches to the router, why I need to inter-connect the switches.
is the connection bet. router and switche [s] is direct or cross wired and router functionality is hub or switch.

If you have one port free on the original switch and you are not connecting anymore system you dont need another switch.

You would connect the router LAN port to the open port on the switch, and connect the router WAN port to the DSL modem.
