Question

Zyxel Prestige 660R-61C default password

Asked by: Donkadelics

I'd like to know the default password for this model.
I tried 1234, admin but all did not work.
I stored my user and password to connect to my ADSL in there so I cannot afford to reset the modem.
Any help?

The lists I checked sugested
username=  Admin      (note capital, most routers are case sensitive)
password=   1234

Sorry, correction. Looking in the wrong column.
Your particular Zyxel Prestige is not listed but the following user names seem to be standard on their units:

User name options:  root, 1234, admin, blank (i.e. no username)
Password options:   1234,  blank (i.e. no username)

The thing is, the login page only lets me enter in the password.
It does not ask me to enter in the username.
You might be looking at the wrong modem model.

Donkadelics,
You are right I couldn't find your particular model. I work with many brands and I find generally the same make, uses similar password and user name combinations, so that is why the multiple choices. If entering a blank password, 1234 or admin just in the password box doesn't work, I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions other than a reset. Perhaps someone else will have an answer.
Good luck.

Greatings Rob and Donk,

Did your service provider give you you a CD that you use to setup ypur DSL? if they did, did you type in a password at any time? It is a common thing for service providers to do. Also who is the service provider?

There are only a few ways to rest the ZyXEL unit.
 1st check an see if there is a reset button..
 2nd if no reset button, is there a serial port on the Back? if there is then you can reset the unit using a straight serial cable and hyper terminal.
3rd is no Serial port, you can try FTP, but sometime you have to send it in to ZyXEL and have them reset it for you..

There is no CD provided.
There is a reset button but I just don't wanna do it this way.
Can I somehow get into the router without entering a password.
I tried contact my ISP but they say no password was put in placed when they set up my ADSL.

No I am afraid you will need the username and password combination even if it is blank. The only other option as cubemonkey mentioned is to reset it which will return it to the default. Make sure you know what the default is before doing it.

From ftp://ftp.us.zyxel.com/P660_Series/document/P660_Series_v3-40_UsersGuide.pdf

Default login to web configurator:
http://192.168.1.1
Username = admin
Passsword = 1234

"If you forget your password or cannot access the web configurator, you will need to use the RESET button ... you will lose all configurations that you had previously and the password will be reset to '1234'. " (page 2-2)

Your ISP will be able to give you all the settings you need for your connection: DSL login username and password (which I think you say is blank) are often all that is required as the default settings often work.

You say in another post that you can't connect using telnet ... but how do you know that the telnet option is turned on given that you are unable to log in to the web configurator ???
