I have found better success at sites where on the router I have cloned the MAC Address of the PC that was used to register the modem. Some providers will not inform you that they do periodically perform scans on their network and they do deny access to any "unfamiliar" devices. Therefore, my advice is to clone it... it really cannot hurt.
Second - It would also be helpful if you could describe the environment after you lose Internet connection.
i.e...
- What is the activity of the LEDs on your modem? (off/on, blinking/steady, green/amber)
- What is the activity of the LEDs on your router?
- From the web interface of your router, does the status page show valid connection info? (Internet IP Address, Mask, Gateway, DNS)
- Are you able to ping to the LAN IP of the router?
- Are other connected PCs able to access the Internet?
- Do you recieve any errors?
- Have you tried replacing your Ethernet Cables?
- Have you tried connecting to a different port on your router?
Sorry for the laundry list... but the answers to each of these questions should help you narrow down to the problem area quicker. Hope this helps!

Enabling MTU option is good, however Enabling MAC Clone is NOT necessary for SBC DSL.
Try to upgrade the firmware on the Router and check.
