The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cisco 837 ADSL Router unable to detect DSL line

Asked by v0r73x in DSL Lines / Cable Internet, Computer Modems, Network Routers

Tags: Cisco, ADSL Router, 837, Unable to detect DSL line

I'm currently trying to set this 837 up and I'm afraid I'm not getting very far. I have tried various sample configs from people using an 837 with my ISP (Zen) as well as configuring from a standard CRWS config. Have tried configuring via SDM and using the CLI although I believe the 837 itself must be faulty so I'm just after some assistance in confirming this. The current config is:

And having run show dsl int atm0 I get the following:

Trying to bring up DSL line using Embedded firmware
Line has not yet been activated.  No information available.

Training log buffer capability is not enabled yet.

I know the line is ok as it connects fine with my Draytek. All i get on the 837 is the DSL TXD/RXD flickering together. Any help appreciated as I've been looking at this for weeks. It was originally purchased to help me learn the IOS which with trying to figure why it won't detect a DSL signal has certainly done the job!! I have tried differen IOS revisions the current show ver is below:
