I just started using ATT DSL and am subscribed to the highest package (6MB). Problem is when I run any speed test I'm only get like 4.1MB. I have Comcast cable as well and have run side-by-side test and the Comcast is getting 6MB... so it's not the computer or anything else in my set up. I called ATT and they "ran a line check" and say I'm getting 4.9MB through-put... convenient... their "small print" minimum that is guaranteed is 4.8MB.
My question is, is there anything I can do to speed it up? I am in an old house so I'm wondering it there is any physical upgrade I could do to the line or any other hardware tricks that will help. Or, am I just screwed because of the distance my house is from the closest ATT hub?
Any other advice or sites someone could point me to?
Thanks,
