low ttl need t make ttl higher

Our clients are having issues with web pages timing out or server not found. I'm suspect of our bridged bandwidth throttler as when I ping the LAN side of the bridge I get a low ttl of 64ms and everything upstream is low as well. If I connect directly to our dsl modem and ping the modem the ttl is 254ms. Could this be a crook network card in our bridge server or can I some how change the ttl on the bridge server so it is higher? Running linux centos 4.6Start Free Trial
