The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

westell dsl modem/wifi router in bridge mode with linksys router, still no cisco vpn

Asked by waterskiwv in DSL Lines / Cable Internet, Cisco PIX Firewall

Tags: westell, 327w, linksys wrt160n router

I have Verizon DSL.  I have a Westell 327W modem/4-port router with wifi.  I have never been able to connect from home to office using Cisco AnyConnect VPN.  I can connect from other locations.  I recently got the Sprint Airave, a device that connects to a broadband connection to give cell coverage by routing calls over the internet to the Sprint network.  It makes a vpn connection to sprint.  Since now there are two reasons to make this work I took action.

I purchased a Linksys WRT160N wireless-N router and connected it to the westell, after putting the westell dsl modem in bridge mode (not routed bridge mode).  I configured the linksys to connect to my DSL using PPPoE and I can surf the web.  Just as before.

The problem is that I still can't connect to my office using Cisco AnyConnect VPN, and the Sprint Airave still won't connect.  Sprint support says VPN Passthrough is not enabled.  Verizon support says my Westell modem is configured correctly.  Any help?

When I attempt to connect using the VPN I see "Authentication Succeeded" followed by a pop up window stating "The VPN client was unable to successfully verify the IP forwarding table modifications.  A VPN connection will not be established."
