The Solution Rating System
|
|
| With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating. - The Grade of the Solution
- The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
- The Number of Author and Expert Comments
- The Number of Experts Contributing
- The Feedback of the Community
Your Input Matters Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site. If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support. Thank you! |

Asked by Sappbrosts in DSL Lines / Cable Internet, Networking Cables, Wireless Network Cards & Adapters
I'm having intermittent connection problems. Cox cable is the ISP. Account is setup with premium service, which should be 8mb down and 1mb up I believe. Speed tests show 800kb down and 500mb up. Usually on Fridays and Saturdays ping times range from 500ms to 3000ms, which should not be above 75ms. There are only 174 modems on my node which has a max capacity of 500 modems. We have tried new modems, new routers, new cables. We had a new coax line ran from the box outside directly to the modem and a new drop line from the pole to the house. I currently use a linksys wrt 54g router. I flashed the firmware to dd-wrt to amplify the wireless signal to 200mw. I've had the same problems with the factory firmware, and a brand new belkin wireless n router. My neighbor also has cox on an unsecured wireless router with default logins, which is how I know they also have cox. When I have the connection problems so does my neighbor. The last time a cox technician came to my house he blamed the issue on my router after presented with all this info which is why I bought the new belkin that didn't fix the problem. Cox is coming to the house again on Saturday, I firmly believe the issue is on their side. What else can I try on my own to help prove this to the next technician?
