If i want to connect my PC to Router's Ethernet port , what cabling shoud i follow?

 Straight or cross cable ??
Plzz urgent

I was thinking Cisco router direct to PC - always crossover.
I chose this answer based on javeed "ccna" login.
The old Cisco 1600 routers came with a crossover in the box just for this purpose.

Of course, any Linksys/soho router LAN port to PC - always straight, because it is typically a switch port

I guess javeed will have to specify...

New devices should just be setup with an auto Crossover on all ethernet based ports and make life for the notice easy.

The STRAIGHT cable sure be right.

On the other hand, many modern networking devices support Auto MDI/MDIX, which will detect the type of cable automatically, and get them connected.

If you are connecting your PC directly into the router than you have to use Crossover Cable, If Router is connected to a switch and its a latest switch means almost all new switches are Auto MDI/MDIX means they will communicate with both crossover and with straight cable.
