But do I need to do any special cabling...ie pinout or is it juest a normal CAT5 cable from there to the routers CSU\DSU?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsATT installed a box on the outside of our building and I am unsure of how to extend the wiring.
The box has the following:
CKT1
T1/HDSL YEL\BLK\RED\GRN
DATA/DDS YEL\BLK\RED\GRN
Do I need to run all 8 to an ethernet jack on the inside to which my Router with a csu\dsu card will then connect? If so what would be the pinout for connecting all 8 wires?
Thanks

Hello Kapara, I'm not clear if you have a jack installed at the Demarc. Surely ATT would bring a jack inside the building during the installation. If they didn't , get on them to finish the job. If there is a female plug installed, then like Belowzero stated a CAT5 or CAT6 cable would connect from the router to the plug. Take care in the routing of the cable to avoid exposure to accidental damage, (run in conduit if possible) nothing's quite like the horror of a forklift/something ripping your T1 during transfer of critical files or data. If you need to make up your own pinout. I'll gladly pass the info on.. Please post back as to your situation..thanx Hope this helps...Booda

it is usually just one jack that you need to extend. pretty much just one long ethernet cable will work. you can also check out this post http://www.experts-exchang e.com/Netw orking/Mis c/ Q_220855 37.html
