Question

"memory cannot be "read"" error in Internet Explorer

Running win2k with SP1, IExplorer 5.5 with SP1, i get an error stating (after listing memory address) that says "memory cannot be "read."  microsoft knowledgebase has nothing (at least that i can find.) i have re-installed win2k, the SP, and uninstalled and re-installed IExplorer and SP1.  Any clues as to what's going on/ how to fix this?  Thanks.

It could be a "hardware" problem with one of your RAM chips.

Try your RAM in another computer,
and try different RAM in your computer.

devrizz,
The error you describe can be due to another app/thread that has locked a range of memory that IE wished to use (often because it is hardcoded to use that memory). You can try killing processes and/or tasks and see if you can then do your operation. Good luck

Hi devrizz,
I agree with dbusher. This is a problem of how microsoft handles its memory allocation. Some program may be running at startup which has locked up the range of addresses. Kill the process to check and if it works then remove the process forever from the registry by using regedit.exe.
OR
there is a distant possibility that some files  of your Service Pack 1 is corrupt and causing the problem.

I think that is best solution to test your RAM memory,so you find out solution

1.  If you still have a problem let us know and give us some more details.
