Browse All TopicsHello ,
I got the following error when I want to reach my website
http://www.prono-foot.be
"Bad Gateway
The following error occurred:
A DNS lookup error occurred. The request timed out during the lookup."
My internetconnection is perfect ( I can reach other websites !!! and I can read and send mail).
My webhosting-company is http://www.gnxonline.com
and my DNS-information of my website is pointing to their
DNS-servers:
primary: ns3.gnx-servers.com
secondary: ns4.gnx-servers.com
I've got a free trial of http://www.alertsite.com to monitor my website from London => the reports are OK.
The only problem is I can't reach my website from Belgium.
I asked someone from MSN (also from Belgium) to type in my website http://www.prono-foot.be and he got the same error !!!
My ISP is skynet http://www.skynet.be and their DNS-servers are working : I've pinged them !
I've already mailed to the people who are responsible for the DNS of .be and they say they have no problems !!!
Can anybody tell what's the problem ????
Greetings
Geert

I've just done a traceroute to ns3.gnx-servers.com from two different locations (one in the US, one in the UK) and got the same error both times:
"Error - ns3.gnx-servers.com doesn't exist"
However, I *can* do a traceroute on ns4.gnx-servers.com .
It looks like a DNS problem at GNX. I'd guess that your browser is timing out before your ISP contacts the secondary DNS at GNX (ns4) /or/ your ISP isn't contacting the secondary DNS at all.
Alertsite is probably working because either a) it only uses IP addresses /or/ b) it's contacting the secondary DNS (ns4) after getting no response from the primary (ns3).
Actually, I've just tried a traceroute on ns3 again, and got a result. Then I tried a third time, and it was down again. Certainly sounds like a DNS server problem at GNX.
If any of this is gobbledegook, let me know and I'll interpret into plain English. :o)
