Question
Limited or no Connectivity, Renewing IP address
I was accessing the Internet thru wireless connection untill last night, but this morning I can no longer get online thru the connection. I get a message that says I have "limited or no connectivity" and when I try and repair the problem it says "cannot complete the following action: Renewing your IP address" . But In the task tray I am getting Excellent Signal level, Speed 11.0 Mpbs, but couldnot able to connect to internet.
I am running Win XP SP2 Home Edition, Intel Pro/Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection, Broadcom 440x 10/100 Intergrated Controller Network Adapter but I am not using any LAN connection(Means Network Unplugged).
I had done some research in the Net, tried uninstall and install the network drivers, run the SPconnectivity Patch as described in the PChell Website, tried to manually put IP address, but nothing solving the problem.
PS: If I am being blocked, is there a way to get around it? Appreciate your advise. Thanks

did you by any chance enable managing the wireless router from the wireless network?
If so, possibly someone has hacked it, since you say that it is Open.
Another standard thing to try: do you have anti-virus software, and have you run it since this problem?
Lastly, please open a command line window, then capture the output of "ipconfig /all"
and post it here.

anything special about last night? is there a new wireless device in the vicinity? Often this sort of behaviour can be caused by some other wireless transmitter operating on the same frequency. Could be just about anything; AV range extender (typical of pay TV services), cordless telephone, garage door opener, even a dodgy microwave oven - all these things commonly use the same frequency band as wifi (2.4 GHz) and can interfere with the wifi communications. The bum deal is that the devices still think the signal is 'good', but no data can get through: The signal is strong enough, but the traffic is all garbled by the interefering transmissions.
It could also be a device anywhere within a hundred metres or so - if you have neighbors close by, then you may be in trouble.
Have you tried changing to a different channel? It usually only takes a couple of channel seperation to get the network working again.

I assume you are using WEP, make sure the WEP key and the SSID match. Have there been any changes recently?
You may be experiencing interference from another close by AP, also try changing the AP to use one of the non overlapping channels, 1,6,11.
