How can I tweak my broadband?

I have WIN98SE and a 512 connection. It is ment to download at 256Mbs. but only downloads at around 50Mbs.
Accessing Web pages can be just as slow as using a Dial up connection.  ANY Ideas how I can get this upto speed.

If youve got a 512 connection, then it should download at around 50k a second.

There is no connection on earth (that Im aware of, anyway) that can download at 256 Megs a second.

And bear in mind that this is only your download speed. If whoever your accessing has a slower connection (say you download webpages off a server using a 56k modem) then youll run at their speed.

And sometimes webpages are just like that.

I was just clarifying for him, plextorman. He may have been misinformed as to how fast his cable was supposed to work. Its not like salesmen are tech experts.

Besides, if im talking rubbish hes more than welcome to say "thats not what i meant at all..." or whatever, and not accept my answer.

a 512k connection should download at around 64Kbs where as a 2Mb Cable connection will download at around 256Kbs ( I have one through Blueyonder :-) )
