The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Wireless Network Guide

Asked by steviejay in Broadband Internet

Tags:

Hi, we have recently moved house.  Our previous house had broadband installed wirelessly.  This was fitted by the company.  There was a Netgear ME102 Wireless Access Point and a MA401 Wireless card for out laptop.  These were provided by the broadband service provider.
The access point plugged into the back of our cable box for the broadband.

We are now trying to share an internet connection via a Desktop that has the connection to the internet and to the access point.
Our laptop now has the MA401 card in it.

The problem occurs when we try to ceonnect to the ME102 (WAP) box via the Laptop.  We have set up the desktop for internet connection sharing and hopefully set up the Wireless Access Point for the Laptop.
But no matter how we try to connect to the WAP via the laptop and the MA401 card it just will not connect to the internet.

The utility says that the signal strength is high and that it has picked up the WAP, we have checked the SSID and MAC addresses and are all fine.  When we go to CMD prompt and check ipconfig it does not have a networked address either for the Desktop or the Laptop on either.
The both have independant addresses.

Does any one know how to set up the MA401 and ME102 hardware or is there another way areound this.  Ie get a wireless router.

Many Thanks
