Browse All TopicsHi
I have a BT yahoo connection that has been active for a year but i have bought a new PC and an ADSL router and wanted to use this rather than the ADSL modem i received from BT.
The router is a net-lynx 4 port ADSL ethernet router which has Conexant software / hardware (?) in it.
My understanding is that i should connect 1 of the 4 ethernet ports on the router directly to the pc rather than use the USB connection.
I have done this and i can access the router via a browser page by selecting http://10.0.0.2
I talked to BT who say they dont support the router (!!!) and they told me i need to configure it with the following settings.
Authentication CHAP
VPI 0
VCI 38
Encapulation VC MUX
Modulation G.DMT
Encapsulation Protocol PPPoA
I have set this up and also entered my username and password for BTYahoo
The routers ADSL light comes on and the 1x light which is the port the PC is connected to comes on.
from what i can see, it would apear that the IP address, gateway and subnet are not being assigned values ... i think they all remain at 0.0.0.0 but i believe that this should hapen automaticaly and the router should find the Internet automaticaly.
None of this is happening and any help to get me going would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Gordon
