HI Experts - hope you can help with this one,
Something on my xp client/server 2003 network seems to be using up my internet band width. I would expect to get about 900kbps generally - throughout the working day I test the bandwidth from the ZDNET site. It tells me that my bandwidth is low - generally anything from 48kbps to say 120. Sometimes 225 or thereabouts but thats about it and I get complaints from the users.
We have rebooted servers, switches and router -and turned off all the pc's in the building in question during the day to then test the bandwidth but the results were negligible.
So I tried from home over a broadband VPN at the evening or weekend. I use remote desktop on to one of my servers , using IE to the same site and it tells me anything from 1200 to 2100. Am I getting a false reading as I am using my own home bandwidth to vpn in to the firewall/router?
Can anyone answer the question above re the possible false reading and perhaps suggest a way forward to isolate the problem of site-to-internet bandwidth consumption?
It would be very much appreciated.
thanks
