Hello,
Preemptive apology -I am vastly under-educated when it comes to networking
I have a small network of 5 PCs running Windows XP SP2, and 1 server running Fedora Core along with 5 printers. It is a very basic network using a 2 lynksis(BestBuy specials) routers and a larger switch.(One router is mimicking a switch). Static IP's on all PC's and all PC's reach the internet directly through the router(no PC or server involved).
Iternet connection is a full T1 with VOIP as well. ISP has tested the circuit and claims all is well on their side.
Just recently, almost suddenly, the internet connection on all of the PC's has become very slow and/or inoperative. Pages will load, but will be missing icons or outlines or pictures or won't load at all. If the pages do load its either lightning fast with missing items, or ridiculously slow(I'm talkin 10-15 minutes)with missing items, there is no in between. The biggest issue is I am unable to download any programs from any sites, except for from within my hotmail account and that only works on one computer.
I have ran Spybot and AVG anti-virus. Spybot found 20 to 30 items on each computer and deleted them. But the problem still persists. I have tried switching the two routers places (gateway becomes router, router becomes gateway)but I got the same outcome. I would try hooking a PC up directly to the T1/Voip Router but I don't know how to configure my PC to do that.(I tried but couldn't figure it out)
There is no problems within the network as far as connecting to other PC's or using printers, only when connecting to the internet.
Any Ideas?
