Metro Ethernet bandwidth question

Asked by selmertech in Broadband Internet, Networking Hardware, Network Management

My company has several satellite locations connected via 10Mb metro ethernet pipes.  Additionally, we have a co-location connected to the same metro ethernet network via a 100Mb pipe.  Now it's my understanding that metro ethernet is a switched technology.  With that said, isn't it safe to say that the 100Mb of bandwidth at our colo is useless because the fastest it can ever communicate is 10Mb?  Or perhaps I don't understand how metro ethernet works?
