I run a offsite backup at night and the internet speed seems to be dropping out and even during the day for users. I need a tool that can monitor there Internet traffic or monitor somthing that can tell me the quaility of there Internet speed.

you can use prgram like wincap of wireshark or even if you don't want to spend money you can use a feature in the windows server calle network monitor tools can install it from add remove programs ----> add remove windows components and go to monitoring tools all of those programs are easy to use give you statistics and detailed info about what is going on

The problem is the line from the modem to the switch board or data block is a long run, I think the quality sucks and need to have some kind of report to show the owner so they do something about it. I use a speakeasy speed test and the result vary so much. It would be nice to have something running all day and night to pull a report of the speeds maybe.
Does anyone know how to use wireshark?
my question is in regards to the line quailty. I need to know the quality drops off at night because of other people on the same network in the area we live. So I would like some kind of program that can tell me we were 1.5mbps and then drops to 786kbps at 11pm. I just want to see how consistant the internet service is.

You could give wireshark a go.

WIreshark is a nework protocol analyser so you can monitor traffic and see if someone is broadcasting or downloading. Plus it is free.
