Is there a way that you can change your Comcast IP address

Is there a way that you can change your Comcast IP address?  I was blocked from a site and would like to change my IP.  The things I have tried like "c:\ipconfig / release", then shut down my computer and then disconnect my modem overnight have not worked.  I have a wired internet connection with my computer connected directly to my modem.

Thanks

You can ask youre provider for a new ip adres if you have a good reaseon.

With ipconfig /release you refresh youre local ip adress but you must change youre public ip adress.

Are you plugged into comcasts modem or a do you have a router in between? You could get a cheap router and that would change your public ip address. Or you could use another nic and that would also change your public ip. Best to have a router in between anyway.
You can also change your MAC address which would change the IP address you get from Comcast.  If you have a router connected you would need to change the MAC address of the router.

Here is a good conversation on changing MAC addresses on Windows 7:

I respectfully disagree with you DaveBaldwin. The reason you retained your IP address when changing your modem is because the device behind the modem (router or PC) had the same MAC address when it sent its DHCP request.
@savone... no it didn't.  The new modem came with a built-in router with a different MAC address.  But since the new modem has a limited WiFi capability, I also plugged in my old router along with my main computer for that connection after I installed the new modem and that did not change a thing.

If you do some searching, you will a lot of people saying the same thing.

I remember I once got a new IP address from Comcast by doing the following:

1) "C:\ipconfig /release"
2) Then shutting down my computer.
3) Then unplugging the power from my modem.
4) Waiting 1 minute.
5) Then plugging my modem back in and when it completely powered up, turning my computer back on and logging in.  At that point when I went to a command prompt in Windows 7 I had a new IP address.  I was using a wired connection directly to my modem and my ISP was Comcast (all same as now).  I can't remember if I used "C:\ipconfig /renew" in this procedure but I might have.  Anyway this process no longer seems to work for some reason.
