The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Cisco IPSec Client for Windows XP 64bit?
Tags: vpn, cisco, client
Has anyone found a Cisco VPN compatible client that runs on Windows XP 64Bit.  Cisco support said that the client will be out in Q4 2006.  I have searched and searched with no luck.  The only thing I found was OpenVPN but was unable to get it to work.  Anyone?

As far as I know, Cisco has not developed a client for 64 bit yet...  I have seen some users install a Virtual Machine (VMWare) and use the 4.x clients within the VM though...

am surprised that Cisco has not brought it out yet, as 64 bit has been around a while...  :)

It's a  bummer,  The VM is what I'm doing right now but kinda a bummer.  64 has been out for a long time and thus far the only issues I have is with Adobe (adobe printer creation) and Cisco VPN.  I'm sure once vista is release there will be more support offered on Vista 64 systems (I hope)....

Until now, 64bit has been primarily in the server arena. Cisco does not, and never has, supported the VPN client on any server OS.
Now that 64bit user machines are hitting the market, I'm sure Cisco will follow with a proper client version for x64, but it probably won't be their #1 priority.
They do have a Vista Beta 2 VPN client beta. It doesn't work on any more recent vista release like RC1 or RC2..

yea, bummer for anyone running the now 'elder' 64 bit XP OS...

I take one thing back..
on 11 Oct Cisco released a 2nd Vista beta client for RC1.
Their "Supported clients" matrix does not list WinXP64 as being supported on any current client (it specifically says "no"), and does not even show a roadmap for support.

Cisco are not developing x64 bit version of the traditional VPN client. I have purchased and am running the NCP Secure Entry Client which supports Cisco IPSEC VPN's and works on x64 Windows Clients.
