Joomla 1.5 does not show Arabic char

Hi.

I am new to Joomla. my host is www.siteground.com so I install Joomla 1.5 through Fantastico in cp.

I have just one problem which is when i write Arabic, it seems ok while writing. But, after saving and browsing it appears as "?????????" just a lot of question marks.

I had the same problem and thanks to the answers I was able to find the way.

My website is at siteground.com as well.

However, it didn't work in the way they informed you. I did actually create a .php file and copy-pasted thec code they gave you and it gave me a "The collation of your database has been successfully changed!" however, it didnt acutally change anything... However, I did find another way: this is the way you go about it:

1) Log-in C-Panel
2) Under Databases->phpMyAdmin
3) Click on _jo151 database
4) Now, ideally, you should do the following for all tables, but I guess you have to do the following for at least jos_content table
5) one same row jos_content table, click on the cooresponding column "Size" link.
6) Click on "Structure" tab.
7) for each field with Collation = atin1_swedish_ci, you click on the change action icon button. (looks like a pen)
8) in the drop down list, change Collation to "utf8_unicode_ci"
9) Repeat 7 and 8 for all text fields.

This can be repeated for other fields as needed.

Note that you can change the whole table Collation to "utf8_unicode_ci" however, it really didnt do me any good until i did the above steps.

After this, everything went ok... hope this gets you're site up and running
