Resetting System Folder or Site Folder on Exchange 2003 (What will I lose)?
I have a problem with all of my email users using outlook 2003 getting the error message:
10:30:34 Microsoft Exchange offline address book
10:30:34 0X8004010F
all of the help points to the following: (Resetting System folders)

What i want to know, is what kind of information will i lose? What is the free/busy schedule? Can i reset the system folder while users are logged on? Or should i do this during down-time.
The next question, What is the difference between site folder and system folder?
the above MS article is for Exchange 2000. I have Exchange 2003, however, on the link above, there is an additional link for 2003, but it says "SITE FOLDER". I dont know the differece. Can anyone help?

Some history: We moved all the mailboxes to another server which was running exhchange 2003, and We took our exchange 2000 server offline. I dont think i had the address book synched before i did it.

Thanks. So basically, what steps should i take and in what order. We ARE using public folders. Everyone has to accept the meeting request? Do my pop users have to accept this request? We have some users that only use POP, and we also have some disabled accounts. Do they have to accept the meeting request also?

generally speaking, sending an appointement to all calendars causes the FB data to be reposted. If you have straight POP users, I'm not sure if this affects them the same way, but you can have them start outlook with the/cleanfreebusy switch.

am i correct in my assessment below?
In exchange 2000 it is called system folder
in exchange 2003 the system folder is called site folder

haven't noticed....the way I check the system folders, is by right-clicking the public folders, go to view, System Folders. If it's Site folders now, I haven't noticed.

you can use utility called UpdateFB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/294282

To get updateFB contact PSS and ask for the utility, you won't have to pay for that.

Now I am really stumped. I just followed the instructions word for word at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822444 (Resetting Exchange 2003 Site Folder).
I restarted the server, opened outlook 2003, and got the same error when i did a send/receive:
10:30:34 Microsoft Exchange offline address book

You have to build the offline address list first, before you can actually get one downloaded to a client. The OAL isn't automatically rebuilt with this fix...

I was having the same problem, on exchange 2003 and outlook 2003.
what the problem was, In outlook, under Tools >> Send/Receive >> Download Address Book, where it says "Choose Address Book", my address book name was called Global Address List, however in my ESM, my address list was called Default Global Address List. So I renamed it, closed outlook, and reopened. the problem was fixed.

Let me clarify even more, i went into ESM and renamed my default global address list to what it was in outlook. the reason why outlook has a different name, i took my initial server offline and put the responsibility on my new server, running exch. 2003. my old server was running exch. 2000. I hope this helps anyone out.
