The name of one of the database files in the store is invalid

I recently installed Exchange 2003 Standard on a 2003 Server box.  I have not been able to get Exchange to work properly.  When I go to the mailbox store and right click on the store to mount it, an error appears:

"The name of one of the database files in this store is invalid.

ID no:c1041737
Exchange System Manager"

Microsoft says to uninstall AV software, make sure the system permissions are on full on the Exchange directory, and run chkdsk on that volume.

I have done all of the above to try to fix the problem.  Any ideas?

Nothing in the mdbdata directory with the .stm or .edb extensions.

The mailbox store is pointing to 2 files:

tt.edb
tt.stm

The name of my mailbox store is tt
ok, you've moved the DB files, renamed or created new ones, but it's still looking for something else. where are the DB files located?
Actually, when I created the mailbox store named "tt", I looked in the MDBDATA folder and never found the *.EDB or *.stm files.

the only file that is in that folder is a E00temp.log file.
Where are the DB files? What path does the properties of the mailbox store show?

I cannot find the DB files anywhere on the server.

The path goes to the 2 logical volume on the server which is:

E:\xchange\mdbdata
We ended up reinstalling MS Exchange server again with the default storage paths and this resolved our problem.  Thanks for your help guys.
