Outlook 2003 error 0x80040115
Tags: 0x80040115
When pressing Send/Receive in Outlook 2003, the error message below is returned: "Task Microsoft Exchange Server reported eror (0x80040115): The conection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or conected to complete this action." Messages seem to be sent and received okay, but this error comes up and I have not been able to figure out why. I am new working to Exchange. The send and receive stays at 75% for a while and the task that is processing is Microsoft Exchange Server Hierachy that seems to be having a problem completing and then this error message comes up. Please help. The machine is running Office 2000 with SP 3, and Outlook 2003 with SP1.

You should have an error log in Outlook. Can you post the error, along with the lines immediately above and below? Hide usernames etc as required, but leave the bulk of the text alone. This will indicate which component it is failing on.

let me also add that the user has an .ost file that he synchronizes to access mails offline. Could this be having problems synchronizing? How can I determine if there is a limit for an ost file that may have been already exceeded.

The log file will either be in deleted items or sync issues folders within Outlook.
If you are using Outlook 2003, the limit on the ost file is higher than previous versions of Outlook, so unless the user has something like 20gb mailbox that isn't the problem.

It is almost certainly a sync issue, you need to see which component it is failing on.

I'm having the same problem, it only seems to appear when I do a manual send and receive. I've looked at my sync issues folders & subfolders, but I don't have anything there.
